Testimonials

"I was hit by a car while out bicycling. When I got to the hospital, I was so shaken up that it was not until the nurse commented on my EverybodySafe.com tag that I realized I never called my wife. Since my phone was still with my bicycle, I had the nurse send an alert."

About Us

hospitalWe created EverybodySafe.com to solve a surprising problem in today's society. In the event something were to happen, how would your family, friends or co-workers know? It is ironic that in such an interconnected world, some of the most basic connections are not available to those who would respond to your emergency. Many of us think with a driver's license or some other form of ID, the emergency responders can access all they need to know about you - where you work, where your family is and their telephone numbers, your doctor, medications, allergies and whatever else they may need to care for you. After all, isn't that how it works on TV?

No! Reality is quite different. With your identity, the hospital or even the police do not have any “magical database” that shows them everything they need to know about you. Often, the only resource they have is the phone book or blanket internet search. If that fails, they could always send someone to the address on your driver's license. The hospital or police might be lucky enough to find your insurance card and if they work real hard, have all the proper HIPAA release forms and can actually get a hold of a live human at the insurance company, they might get the names of your spouse and children in a few days. Take a look at some other ID Myth Busting facts.

Jacob Hargrave (Founder of EverybodySafe.com) started the company out of a personal experience with his father and hearing similar stories from friends. Something happened, they ended up in the hospital and no one knew. It happens every day in just about every emergency room around the country. Jacob decided something had to be done and so he reached out to some friends and decided to build it.

car tripThe true inspiration came to Jacob while traveling on business to San Francisco. He had just heard the story of a friend and co-worker and after thinking “how would my family ever know”, stayed up most of the night in his hotel and mapped out what would become EverybodySafe.com. Jacob wanted to create something that was active and more than just a piece of paper in your wallet with names and phone numbers. Jacob wanted something that gave the hospital a complete list of your emergency contacts, some small necessary medical notes and then did the revolutionary thing of actively reaching out to everyone on the list. He then looked at the way he communicated and decided that Email, Phone calls and Text messages should be sent to everyone on your list. They needed to tell your friends and family where you were, what happened, who was taking care of you and how to get a hold of them.

id cardsAs soon as he returned home, he immediately reached out to Kurt and Kris Schroeder who he knew had the technical expertise to build such a system. After many discussions, focus groups, industry research and consultation from those who would use the service, EverybodySafe.com began to take shape. Glenn Graham (a long time friend of Jacob’s) was brought in to help with the sales and marketing of the company and after a year of development, experimentation and feedback, the company was ready.

Today EverybodySafe.com is reshaping perceptions of emergency notification. Educating and reinforcing our core belief that everyone deserves a voice. Especially if they can’t speak for themselves.
